I've never had a beep from mine, neither have I ever heard the relay cut in/out (can't ever hear the turbo wind up for that matter either). Mine starts first time, even from cold, about 2-3 secs after turning on the ignition, almost as quickly as a petrol motor (typed whilst touching large piece of real wood!!!! - superstitious, what me??)

I think it's only the 2.4s that have the beep.
I'm starting to feel sorry for you 3 litre boys, I mean, no beeeep, no turbo light no heart palpitations when stuck in traffic on a hot day.

I can hear 2 beeps!! - one a few seconds after turning the key and then a smaller beep after about 2 minutes when operating temp. is reached.

Hi Logey,
Non-EFI motor. When I mean beep I mean a relay click, sorry if I misled!!! The only BEEP I have is my immobiliser and hooter!

I've just been considering rewiring the glowplug light so it stays on until the relay click, and now you've given me an idea.

I'm gonna build a circuit that gives us 3 litre boys a beep too. Then we'll be superior in EVERY way once more
