Tacho fitting in Hilux
Has anybody fitted a tacho to a diesel Hilux.
I have a 2.4 diesel Hilux Pick-up and wish to fit a tacho. I have a Auto Gauge tacho that works from the alternator. The problem is which wire from the alternator do I connect to. The instruction just say connect the green wire to the vehicle's tachometer signal source. I was told by the salesman that it would work ok. I have checked the alternator control wires for voltages etc but I do not know what sort of signal the tacho needs, wheter it works on a variable voltage or a pulse signal.
Are there any electrical experts out there that can help me please.

Ok. I now know the signal comes from the "W" connection on the alternator. Has the Hilux got a "W" connection. I can't tell from the Haynes manual and the wiring colours are different. Got a vague memory the the "W" connection is the charge light. Anybody know?
