Parallel batteries

Firstly let me say hi to everyone i like this place is great, the threads have helped me loads with heater plugs and rear window problems.

Now i can't find a definate answer on this one, do I need to connect a charge spitter if I install another battery or would connecting it in parallel be fine it's not gonna be a leisure battery just a little more power for starting on some cold mornings.

If you connect the batterys in parallel, the alternater just thinks you have installed a bigger battery, so it'll just charge them like normal (but a little slower obviously.

Thats is how later twin battery trucks are setup from the factory.
