little red light

Hi all ,can anyone help im trying to find out what the red l.e.d. check light is for on my 2.4td 1990.it is in the dash right of the turbo l.e.d on the rev counter as mine goes on and off sometimes when i switch on but not when the engine is running. cheers

It's the check engine light and should come on when starting but not when the engine is running so you're OK.
