  • getting starter out of 2.4

What an absolute ******* of a job. The top bolt that passes thru the bellhousing is the hardest thing to get to I have seen for years. I had to grind and bend 2 special spanners to bet the bolt out. Then the plumbing needs moving as it wont come out from underneath and has to come thru the engine bay. I have car cuts, bruises and a smashed flashlight (threw it on the floor in a rage.

Gotta get it fixed and put it back now.

    Well ****ed off with it

to get through your engine you need to have about 2ft of extensions on you socket thats what I found out after starting and failing to get mine out then it was really easy. did you check out the american forum which has a good write up

      Yes,
totaly different on the 2.4 diesel. Its a bitch of a job. No extension in the world will help with this I am afraid. One bolt head is tight up against the bulkhead in a horizontal plane and the other is fairly simple.

I flatter myself I am a competent mechanic and I just spent 6 hours removing and refitting a starter motor.
