Right i've just trawled both the search on here,
and the Toad book, thanks BW & MD,
In the morning I shall resume investigation of the syndrome initially commencing with a Batt-off fix, and failing this carry a print out of the toad
troubleshoot bible and try that,
Once agin this site has proved a mine of info, and I'm glad I found it.
He talked me through a number of system checks, which should've dropped it out of Valet mode and resume normality, culminating in his advice,
to get a new one fitted, as he suspects the system is buggered,
The MOT monkeys had gotten into trouble somehow
and put it into Valet, permanently.....
which seems to mean, the CL still works and the car goes, but thats it.
[personal rant]why cant' a supposedly proffesional outfit, carry out their work, without ££cking up stuff, and when accidents occur, put the hand up to it[/personal rant]
Just a follow-up for anyone else with a similar complaint.
I had my security man booked to come out to my home on Friday morning,
to look at mine and see if it could be salvaged, or needed ripping out and replacing since it might be fried according to another alarm guru.
Tonight, however, had to run some food up to the horse, as he's run out,
and briskly drove back down the cart track that pretends to be our access road, only to find on parking up at home,
that 'normal service had been resumed'
yep, LED goes out when in use
doors lock when you set off
lights and bleep as normal..
To my knowledge, nothing has been disturbed intentionally, which suggests at least, a loose connection of some sort
Looking for a blown fuse on the central interior roof light, and
bumped into the tiny button that presumably caused all
alarm trouble in the first place
( guess who's size nine boot clipped it on that dirt track the other week)

Soooooooooooo, what are you saying?
That button is a valet switch???
Life on the edge is short, but the view is great !
there is a button on a dual core flex,
poking out between side of dash and, door pillar,
which I understood was always the Valet option,
although I can never make it do anything by pressing it, but cause a hidden relay to click in the engine bay.
So briefly........
A Bought car-everything worked OK B MOT'd ca; alarm no longer blipped LED stayed on C Bounced down a cart track; sorted itself out
D weeks later; discover another little button (by loud pedal)
