  • alarm & MOT

Just had 92's MOT extended, as per the sales agreement,
    thats worked out OK.

Happened to notice the C/L still works off the fob as usual,
    but the alarm is inop,
    (No flashing lights/Beep)

there is an LED permamnently lit, beside the rear fog switch which wasen't previously always on.

Obviously its down to dealer to sort out, as they've done some-****** thing
    to it,
but can I likely, sort it myself at home without letting them lose again on it.

If it's a toad or a toad copy, then the light means it is in valet mode , which just as you say means locks but no alarm. Somehere near it you should have a tiny push button about 5mm accross. you hold this button and arm/disarm the alarm, or arm dissarm then press and hold the button, or somthing like that. sorry this is breif, typing w left hand + holding baby

      button

      theres a button
      (pictured top)
on a long lead, which someone kindly informed me ages ago,
was likely something to do with Valet useage,

Just been to operate in conjunction with fob, but as yet,
nothing has worked, so I guess I'll try again in daylight.

I think your on the right track BTW on the valet thing,
      cheers

Havent you got to press it with the ignition on or something so the alarm knows its you turning it off rather than some thieving scumbag!!

From the manual for a falcon (cheap toad clone)

to leave valet mode switch the ignition on, withing ten seconds press the valet switch for more than 2 seconds, the LED will turn off the siren will chirp twice then the system leaves valet mode.

Don't know if yours is the same.

On my Mini, you have to press the arm and disarm buttons together to activate 'valet' mode, if that helps!

Sorry mate, Am out of ideas (apart from the engineer's reset)

Best find your model number and surf the net for a manual. Most alarm manuals seem to be out there somewhere if you have the mode no.

Maybe disconnect your batteries for a while to see if that resets the alarm.

                              cheers all

Like I say i'll have a go in morning with some light and a coffee,

I'm fairly confident it something the numpty did on the MOT

and in any case its not vital the alarm funtions for a few days,

I don't know which model number to go for as I haven't the faintest,
                              where its glued in anyway,
but I do have a very good security man on cars,

he put a proximity function on the racing car a few years ago,
as the front badge kept walking, and it instantly cured that.

Co-incidentally my son's Mini, had two windows shattered,
for no particular reason, yesterday evening outside in the street,

so i'm a bit sensitive on security today.

ah well 'Bliars' cool brittania eh!
