  • Can Someone PLEASE Put This To Rest!

DASHBOARD CLOCKS: LED BULBS or STANDARD BULBS!

This seems to have been done to death!

After reading and re-reading post after post on the subject I am still totally confused and none the wiser!

I want to replace the bulbs on the clocks on my surf, to make them look better and more pleasing to the eye!

It is "patchy" and sort of yellow off white at the moment and looks ****!

Which is better, LED or normal "coloured" bulbs?

How many do I need to buy?

Which kind do I need to buy?

Having seen LED's in Halfrauds I was sorely tempted but didn't know which ones to buy or how many!

There are numerous posts here but all start well but seem to diversify into strips, neons etc. etc.

All I want, and I'm sure a few others will take interest, is a set of bulbs that will my gauges pretty and give them a new lease of life!

Has anyone put new LED bulbs in and how did it turn out?

Which is the best colour to use?

    Thanks in advance!

    Gary

LEDs - Pros - probably wont need replacing for the life of the car. Available in many funky colours. Cons - tend to have a narrow beam rather than a conventional bulb's omnidirectional output. Therefore you may end up with uneven illumination. More expensive than standard filament lamps.

My tuppence worth - leave it for the max-power reversed-chav-baseball-cap brigade

In the first pic, these are replacement LED bulbs, you remove the glass originals and replace them with these, using the original holders, they're push fit wedge type, the same as in the sidelights on the front of the truck.......In the second pic, these are the small bayonet type for the fuel, volts. oil and water gauges.....
