  • What is this for ??

Whilst doing the EGR mod this afternoon i noticed a corroded connection that seems to have come away from some kind of spring loaded device to the n/s rear of the engine compartment.
It seems that it must have something to do with the bonnet opening and closing but i have no idea as to what or why.

Anyone have any ideas as to what purpose it serves ??

thats part of the alarm thats fitted.the blue wire comes out of the siren and should connect to the bonnet switch so when the bonnet is opened with the alarm set the alarm should go off

Looks to me like a pin switch, for the alarm, so the alarm knows the bonnet has been lifted.
      It just does, OK?

I reckon it's the bonnet switch for the alarm system.
              It's only a hobby!

I contacted Toyota and e-mailed them that pic, and they confirmed my diagnosis, that it's a doobry whatsit! Roughtrax sell them, but it's a 'pattern' part and probably won't last as long as a genuine Toyota part.

Does that connect to the flux capacitor? or does it prevent back feed to the poisonthetreehugger relay?

I believe you will find it is the consol for the rotating prismatic converter on the giggle cam
fortunately only found on red and simillar colour vehicles - can be rendered harmless by a re-spray

No, the flux capacitor is independently switch to the doobry whatsit, 'cos it needs to generate the 1.21 gigawatts needed to activate the warpdrive core reactor, to reach the 88mph to interupt the space time continuum without creating a paradox.
As I said, roughtrax do sell them, but they are in high demand this time of year so either get one from Toyota or have a rummage round at the sc r a p p y.
