    hi just got my surf, tryed to fit my stereo cos the jap one is pant's and wont work properly, got the converter (same one that's sold on this site), and went to put it in on, there are only 1 set of plugs to fit it to so i cant go wrong, but guess what, IT WON'T WORK, when i undid the old plug to put mine in all the lights went off, pluged mine in anyway and nothing happend, can any one tell me what i'm doing wrong??? i will also take pic's when it get's light!

    Worth checking the fuse to make sure you haven't blown it changing things around. Does anything work (e.g. aerial) or is it all dead?

      Yep checked all the fuse's and got my voltmeter out to make sure i have current, checked the stereo, even the radio on the old stereo works when i plug everything back in!?!?!? just when i unplug the old stuff and put the new in everything goes totaly wrong??????? i think i have some freeky wirering or somthing but it all looks like the proper stuff. i even tryed cutting the power wires direct from the old stereo but that didn't work eather

        Have you tried the new radio on another car / 12v battery to make sure it is working? Also, did you check the in-line fuse on the new radio? That could have blown.

          yes did all that and everything works fine, it's just when i put them in my surf, it stops, i can't figure it out and it's doing my nut cos it should work and it wont?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

              make sure the two live wire ie the red one is going to the live on the key and the yellow wire is going to a permanant live also have you tryed it with the aerial plugged in
              I HAVE FOUND JESUS he was behind the sofa

                Silly question, but did you remove the band expander (converter) before you fitted your new stereo?

                  ok got the stereo working!!! the TWŁT that had the truck before me had BAS&$ŁDISED the amp and stereo so i just striped out all the wiring for it! no i have to figure out what he did to the interia lights, clock and cigeret lighter cos non of that works now!?!?!?
