URGENT Heater Ctrl Lights !

Help !!!

Whilst I have the whole dash out of the car and in the boot..... does anyone know how to get at the bulb that lights the heater / aircon 'slider' controls ?? All the button LED's are fine, but I cant see the temp slider control at night.

Thought this would be a good time to sort it.... if I could work out how to get to it !!!!!

On mine you pull the knob off the slider/s then I think it was air con button pulls out the heater hot/cold fascia gently comes out and its one bulb behind it.
Mine is the 2nd gen but 1990 and has got slider for the vent settings not push buttons as yours, so could be slightly different.

Hope this reply isn't too late.
Just checked my consolew which is also out, there are 2 green LEDs on the small pcb behind the airt con legend plate, and there must be a small LED embedded at the back of each slider shaft, connected by transparent plastic to the front, but mine isn't apart enough to confirm that.
If yor PCB LEDs aren't working I would suggest a PCB fault, as LEDs are too reliable for 2 to fail! In this case get a pair of LEDs on flying leads from Maplins or similar, wire them to another lighting circuit and hot glue or epoxy them behind the panel.
Hope this helps, and hasent it got cold, my toes are buning and I've still got to put it all back together.

Bob, would you like to clarify that for me as I thought the 1st gen was the 2door like Sumo & Fenman.
I thought the body change to 4 door marked the start of the 2nd gen,
with a facelift for the widebodied version.
Then 3rd gen etc.

I think bob means the facelift version in about 93ish with the flush headlights.

Nigels is DEFINATLY a 2nd gen.

B####y hell iv'e bought a cut and shut job oh no

Well, I gave up at 6pm.... too cold....too dark...... couldn't feel fingers or feet, still ain't put my phone kit in or sorted out the heater lights..... or wired the towhitch socket or anything else much...........
BUT......... I can now lock & unlock the car remotely ........I don't care if the alarm actually works... and I didn't put the immobiliser bits in coz all I wanted was the push button locking ......... I only put the siren in so I know if it goes off by accident.

And I did manage to get rid of that ****** stupid beeper behind the dash that comes to life when I'm in reverse

For anyone who's not sure.... here's a picture of the offending bit..... HOW THE HELL DO I GET IN THERE???
