  • Rear lights bar.

Not sure if elecrical is the place, but we'll give it a go.

Has anyone fitted a lights bar at the back edge of the roof? I have two off 5 inch backing up/reversing lights to fit and rather than drill the roof six times (two bolts and a cable stuffing gland for each) I was thinking of fitting a bar carry them, and possibly carry an amber beacon as well. this would also give an additional load lashing point to steady a bike on a rear carrier.

I don't really need a rotating beacon, but you know how it is.

I've had a search but everyone seems to have rear lights mounted direct, and the conventional light bar needs to hook to a door edge so cannot go at the back.

In case anyone is thinking of the window surround, I think these ones are two heavy.

Can anyone help before I go mad with the blackndecker?

P.S. we are talking 2nd gen

Not sure how much help this will be but here I go anyway.
I have a roof rack that I hand crafted the "feet" for to fit the roof.
This was then riveted to the roof. After the first drill hole it gets easier.
As for wiring, I used 7-core trailer cable through a rubber grommet.
My reversing lights are down on the towbar but I have the others, turn, tail and stop up on the rear bar.
Rotating amber beacon..........I want one !!

Hi Dave, Dont know if you've sorted the rear light bar or not, If not and your in no hurry my brother in law reccons he can get stainless tube made up at
the place he works, (hoping he can get me some side and rear bars, inch and
a half in dia) He maybe able to get smaller gauge (rear top bar) as well, If
you draw your requirements with measurements and scan it i'll print it and
give it to him, As i say as long as your in no hurry, took em nr two months
to make some ramps for my Mrs's electric buggy, ( they do it when no ones
about if you know what i mean, I was thinking of somthing similar to put
two mirrors on, Lights and beacon as well? why not, Cheers Ian.
