  • Window problems

    Hello all,

I’m new to the forum and have had my 1991 2.4 SSRX for 6 months. Really great, the best all-round car for dogs/kids, not been off road yet though.

Unfortunately the surf has developed 3 problems…

The passenger window has always been intermittent but recently stopped working with any switch and I can’t hear the motor or any sort of click at all. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The rear window was working fine but all of a sudden decided to stop, the motor works with both key and interior switch but the glass doesn’t go up or down without me pushing it. Proving very awkward with a dog. Any suggestions?

Last minor problem is that my dashboard lights on the left by the rev counter have just decided to go. This is just annoying and I wondered how easy it is to fix?

Thanks for you help, I’m sure I’ll have some more questions soon.

    V.

Just been working on the rear window, the relays seem to be working ok clicking at the right times. The motor sounds like its working. Could it be the cog mechanism?

The dash needs to come out to replace the light and warning bulbs. See link here http://www.showmesome.info/hilux/workshop/dash.htm for how to get it out. As it's a pain to do check all of the bulbs whilst it's out and replace any that are starting to look discoloured or smokey.

                  Same Problem

My rear window has just stopped aswell, again motor sounds like it's working. I had to jam the switch in the up position and pull the window up, worse thing is it's bucketing down.

If the motor is spinning you'll find the teeth have worn on either the motor or the regulator.

yeah i did think about that....

but the cogs aren't even trying to turn at all when the motor spins. May be they are jammed?!
