heated rear window not working

hi, well i have just joined after surfing your site for many weeks and then took the plunge and brought me a surf, brilliant.

Just a little problem the rear heated window does not work, only chance as cold tonight to test it out!. Any ideas, i thought it may be the fuse or relay. Where do i find these, if not then i fear its the window element...ahhhh.

it is quite a common problem and what will have happened is that the wires that attach to the glass element will have come adrift at the point that they connect to the screen , as it goes up and down it eventually falls off what you need to do is remove the rear panel and wind the window down a bit and it should mecome evedent as to what has gone wrong

My wires had broken about 6" up the cable from the plugs, the sheathing looked oK, but when I pulled on the spade connector 6" of corroded brittle wire pulled out of its plastic sheath.

Snipped it right back to a good bit and replaced the wire.

checked mine today wire broken at connector how does connector come off?

if you mean the connector to the rear window then it just pulls off

Don't do what I did and jam the latch with a screwdriver so I can put the window up and then turn the key the wrong way when I wanted to put it down (I caught it but it was close)

Do you need to be inside the surf before you can find the connectors? I tried to find them with the window right down and the tail gate open but couldn't find them.

Simplest way is to wind the window down about 6-8 inch, sit in the rear,
remove carpeted panel, remove metal panel, and connectors are on
bottom right, (if I remember correctly), of the glass.

Hi guys, my rear window wont demist but am confused 'cos the dash light comes on !!!! Oh and does anyone know how to fit a winch to a 1995 Hilux SSR-G 2.4 TD with full bullbars and bellyplate ??? what do i bolt the winch to ??? IGGI XXXXxx

drop the tailgate and take off the carpet panel then the metal and plastic covers and then you can get to see the connections for the demister on the window or a wire may be broke in the sleeve from the boot to the tailgate

I have just taken my panel off to have a look, and there are two connectors with no wires as they have broken off.

I had a fiddle around and i have found the two wires.
But which one connects to the left and which one to the right???

One wire is white with a black stripe running along the length and a few red circles on it.
The other is black, with red circles.
