  • Dreaded Rear Window

    Hi all,

Noticed this evening that my rear window/tailgate sensor is playing up and bringing on the warning light and rear interior light. Not a problem to sort, but when I opened and closed the window I got a beeping from the (probably) relay set. SOunds like a digital clock alarm when the window reaches its full upper limit.

    Ideas?

I'll have the bugga in bits over the weekend (again, truck seems to be falling apart at the mo! Dont know why! ), to check the sensor and give a clean.

my switch was playing about - stripped the window and no help. sprayed contact cleaner and fiddled for a bit and it was sorted

Its not the sensor, its the alarm noise. Its a new one on me! What the hell is it? Lol!

The sensor I can deal with. Just never heard the noise before.

All I can think is that the latch switch for the interior light is faulty so the relay thinks the tailgate is still open and setting off a warning so the window is not raised with the tailgate not fully closed . Not sure if that is fitted , but sounds like a technical answer

Right - just been outside to test - took the rear window down by key and opened the tailgait - tried to up the glass with the key and the classic 'braun' alarm sound is made - as said must be a warning to prevent broken glass in the event of tailgate not being shut properly - suspect your problem is the rear light switch for the tailgate!
