brake fluid

Hi got brake light 'comin on' problem. If I'm to top up with additional brake fluid what type is it??

I use DOT4 fluid.
Have you checked that the float switch isn't sticking in the fluid reservoir?seems to be a common fault.

Cheers will check float tomorrow.
level didn't look to low on inside but was just above min on the outside.
Would have continued today but started pishing with rain.
