  • 3rd Gen SSRG Stereo Urgent Help

    Hi All

Stripped out dash on my 1996 Blue over Silver (Fastest) 3rd Gen SSRG today, piece of cake by the way following instructions posted on this forum, to finf that i cant't connect my sony 10 disc auto changer to the kenwood double din cd/md headunit.

Decided to buy a sony UK headunit off ebay (rather tatsy modeL wIth MP3 cabability etc.

After looking at the electrical connections and given that my rig has the six speakers as listed elsewhere on this forum. I asume that there is some kind of amp behind the dash after reading other threads, has anyone got any pics cos i'm not sure what this thing is supposed to look like?

Also the kenwood unit doesn't seem to have been wired awfully well, although it looks like the original toyota connector plugs are still there but only two out of the three have been used, or is the third, with only a couple of wires, for something diferent?

Can anyone tell me what ISO connector part number I will require from Halfrauds or Autoleads given that I think I have the Surf with the extra amp.
I have seen that it could be the one for the MR2 but which model? or are they all the same?

My new sony also haS a seperate wire for the auto antenna so i assume I will have to connect this seperate to the iso connector? Any help on these issues would be extremely welcome and I will post piccies on general forum as soon as I get time to give her a good polish.

    Please Help

i have recently fitted a sony head unit in my 3rd gen and all i had to do was connect it via an iso lead which i got from ebay listed in car parts under surf.
the mr2 one in halfords will probably work. ask the staff there they should know,

you dont need to connect the separate antenna lead as the ariel works off something else.

looks pretty neat when its all back together too.

im on the look out for a in dash dvd now to fill the slot up underneath.

Don't forget, the ISO radio fitting leads are available from the forum shop.

          Thanks Larry

I think I 'm now fully confident to tackle the job. Just need a the iso lead and a 2 din adapter thingy. Mounted my auto changer this morning under the passenger seat and ran the leads to the dash under the centre console.

What fiddly job that was - found two little brackets under seat with holes in so modified my autochanger brackets and fixed with setscrews. Cant get em tight though but don't think it will move far - doesnt rattle so jobs a good en.

One more question - there was three connectors behind the stereo on the loom. Do all these plug into the iso connector or not. The third one only has two wires to it and isn't connected at the moment so not sure what its for?

Are the iso leads on the forum the one for the 3rd gen with six speakers?
