  • transfer indicator switch

i've trouble shot my entire 4wd system and have narrowed it down to one component, the transfer indicator switch. if only i knew the location of this switch so that i could confirm my findings. does anyone know the position of this switch? i was using a diagram i got from this site, but i couldn't tell if it was in the engine bay, under the center counsel by the shift levers, or under the car by the diff. if anyone can provide any information concerning the location of this switch it would be a great help.

It's on rear of transfer case above the small bash plate.

Very simple, you want to test whether theres current flowing between the two pins in the plug connector, there shouldnt be if it is sitting free on your bench.

The circuit closes and you get current when you push the other end of the switch in toward the body of the switch. Its a simple spring loaded pushrod, when the t-case is in 4wd, something pushes on the rod and the circuit closes sending a signal to the ADD to engage.
