100/80w Headlight bulbs

Has anyone got bulbs of this rating fitted without upgrading the wiring? I've got a set of these, but I've got a bit twitchy about fitting them.

Yep! Fitted months ago, and no problems at all. Go for the blue tints they are much brighter and even oncoming traffic doesnt get a grumpy about them either as long as your headlights are adjusted properly.

Not that I use mine on the road of course

BTW Halfrauds do them at about 12 quid. They are a git to replace on a suf, if you cant be arsed to move batteries and water bottles then go for the £5 for fitting. That'll upset the gimps at Halfrauds! Lol!

Thanks Danno, I read your post from a while back where you had upgraded your lights. I've already got those Ring ones off e-bay, got them for £9.99, and also got side lights from the same guy for £3.99, which I've already fitted, and they are much whiter than the old ones.

These are no problem - go ahead. But the higher-rated ones might be too much (130/??).

I run 100/90 on an upgraded loom.
They run fine on the standard loom but heaps brighter on the upgraded one.

Xenon Bulbs

Just been failed on my MOT for having blue headlights. These are the 100/80w xenon type and have been fine for three years, including two MOT passes at the same place. When I pointed this out he said they were showing blue on the beam checker and that constitutes a fail. The other tester looked a bit sheepish as he had carried out the two previous MOTs. Once they have entered these facts on the MOT electronic database they cannot go back on them.
Had to put the original darkness-inducing 60w bulbs back for the retest. Considering swapping back to the Xenons after the test as they are so much better than the originals, and I have also got the changeover down to about 15 minutes now I'm getting used to it.

Sounds like a load of b*****ks coming from the MOT tester.
My 100/80 blue tint bulbs have passed OK twice. How do the newer cars with HID bulbs pass the MOT? they look more blue than my bulbs.

Yes agree but I also pointed out to them the cars that have these from new and he said they show up white on the beam tester, possibly something to do with the much higher wattage, I would expect the new cars to only have the standard 60w bulbs?
