My reversing lights have bit the dust.I,ve checked the bulbs,I,ve checked the fuse - all ok.
I seem to remember when I first got the car they were u/s but the mechanic reckoned they came back on as soon as he,d checked them.
Anybody had a similar problem or got any ideas ?

seem to recall someone else having this problem, think it was something to do with the micro switch or wiring to it on the gearbox when selecting reverse

Not sure but I don't think that Reversing lights are a requirement for a car to pass an MOT anyway, never seen them tested anyway and I always watch when my car is Mot'd.

        Cheers

However I believe that if they are fitted there are required to work... I guess it depends how thorough the MOT inspector is...

My reverse lights did no work when I purchased the Surf so I fiddled with the switch on gearbox and they worked.Next time I put in reverse they did not. Will get around to removing switch one day and see what the problem is.I think they have a pin on the end which works off something in the gearbox and this part is probably worn.

Never seen a MOT'er check the reversing lights before. Most likely to be the gearbox switch if you wanna fix it.
