I'm thinking of fitting a seperate switch for mine, 'cos when I want to listen to a C.D. I have to have the ariel up Not a good idea when I drive along a lot of narrow lanes with ten foot high hedges on either side.

The switch does work, i have one in the centre console. I did'nt wire it but mines great.

just put the switch in line with the electric aerial supply... on for up, off for down...


wire will be either orange or blue depending if it's connected to AMP REM or ANT line

its easy!
wing liner off (loads of 10mm self tappy jobs)
chrome doohicky off the top of the ariel mounting
10mm bolt holding ariel to inner wing
ariel is now free (hooray!)
take the cover off (4 phillips screws and a nut)
take off the inner cover
hoick the last bit of the ariel runner out
now the fun bit
turn the radio on, ariel thinks its extending, when that stops, push the new ariel down the hole, it wont go far
now turn the radio off.
race back round and guide the last bit of mast down the hole
then as bushwacker said
reassembly is ... reverse of blah blah blah

in future i will be tackling jobs like checking tyre pressure and changing wiper blades. expect pictures.
