Convert to heated primer

I need to replace my primer (the usual smoke, trouble starting etc.) and I was wondering if it was possible to convert from a normal primer to a heated primer? I know it's easy enough to get the primer head, and I've a friend who's an electrician who can help wire it all up, but I'm not sure if it's possible or what I'd need if it were.
