New Alternator

Hi everyone, just bought another surf, runs fine, the dash lights (all of them ) stay on while driving, then go out for a while, then flicker on and off, the battery needle fluctuates, and the headlights flivker. The guy I bought the surf off, said it had a new Alternator and never goes flat and seems to run ok. What's causing this problem.

check battery is getting 14+volts when engines running and check earth/alternator connections are clean and tight

That happened to me till cable broke, check the cable of the alternator that is not loose, the one covered with a rubber cover, the nut that keeps the cable attached to the alternator might be loose
