  • Another CD Player

    Hi all,
My Surf has a Sony MD/CD changer control unit model number XR-C5300R.
This works fine ... but .... it looks as though the CD changer has been removed.

As usual there is no manual for the radio/cd head!

Now despite lots of seraches on the internet I cannot find any information/manual or similar that will help me find a compatible CD changer, or how to fit it etc. Can anyone help?

In the r/n/s cubby hole there are two screened leads with phono jacks on the end, and another screened lead with what looks like an FM aerial jack on the end. The leads run under the carpet towards the front, so I am assuming they go to the radio? Would these have been connected to a CD autochanger?

I haven't removed the head unit (yet) so not sure if they'e anything to do with it or not.

I have noticed that there is a sony remote control handset which is compatible with the XR-C5300 R for about £49.99. Anyone any knowledge of this?

Once again, all help gratefully received. Cheers.

Just as a final update! The manual would have cost £15 by post (ouch!) but as a PDF I got it for £5

Also, I fitted the CD changer and no go. Followed the leads to the front and found .. THE LEADS WERE NOT CONNECTED.

Okay, following that decided to get at the stereo and fit the cables. Having found that the radio is NOT fitted to a slide out mounting decided to follow Codlords brilliant guides on removing the lower front dash. After about 30 minutes finally got at the radio which was mounted in a chassis secured by 4 bolts. At least any would-be theives would have trouble getting it out! Then connected the cables - voila!! A fully working CD Player

Put lower dash back together and now I am a happy bunny with a 6 CD autochanger for all those long outings!
