fuse woes

Happy New Year to you all.

I found a fuse ( of the type encased in a thin glass tube with metal caps at either end) rolling around the drivers footwell today- 3A 250v, with a black plastic screw-in fixing. All elecs work except the cig lighter. I've had the dash off but cannot find where to screw the thing back in. Ideas?

It's a mains fuse and nothing to do with the Surf. It was probably put down on top of the dash or somewhere by the previous owner and has rattled around until it dropped on the floor, just to confuse you. I would throw it into the round toolbox.
