  • Central Locking Unlocks Itself

    Hi Gang,

My Central locking system has just decided its got a mind of its own!!

I go to lock the car with either the Key in the outer drivers lock, or the internal lock switch in the arm rest, All four buttons go down but then immediatly POP back up again.

Earlier I had to lock all doors manualy but when I went back out to the car they had unlocked themselves!

This only started today, after I had washed the car, I am hoping I may have got some damp in somewhere but I dont know where to start looking.

Its a 1989 2.4 ssr ltd without remote key locking.
The only other thing i can think of is that I have a GHOST and I need an EXORSIST.

Has any one else had a problem like this, any ideas?

    Thanks Gang in anticipation

Make sure all your doors are closed properly before you try anything.

Try and isolate the problem by locking one door at a time starting with the one that is farthest from the drivers door.If all works ok until you get to drivers door then the central locking in drivers door may be faulty or sticking.Give the lock a squirt with some silicon spray.

I know this is a 9 year old thread, but I am having this exact same problem and I cannot find the issue for the life of me. Hopefully you get updates via email and can give me some insight or someone has seen this issue before.

I've noticed on my 3rd gen that sometimes just turning the ignition off after stopping pops the pins up on all the doors.
