can the headlamp bulbs be changed by removing the front grill as it seem a lot easier than moving the batteries and working in a tight space?
thanks
Yes - take off the sidelights then the grill comes out. But be careful, the clips have funny little springs on them. Look at the first one carefully. If you just rive at it you will break them. You may break them anyway. Then the headlights come out with three or four 10mm bolts. Takes about 15 mins the first time.
I got a set of replacement clips from local Toyota dealer. £6 ish from memory. 2-off 90467-12020 and 10-off 90467-12040. Didn't need them this time round but definately will if it has to come off again.
I've got a rap around bullbar, so when I changed mine last year I did it by removing the batteries. Took me half an hour to do both. Probably no more fiddly than going in through the front and worrying about breaking clips.
Hi just done mine, I left the grille in place, and the batteries.
On the top of the grille drivers side 10mm bolt holding washer bottle and battery strap 13mm bolt. Removed these.
Passenger side was 10 mm bolt for coolant header tank, other battery holding strap, 3x 10mm bolts holding a black plastic cover behind the light.
Bit fiddly- pulled the wire connector off, rubber boot off, untwist the locking ring and gently pulled the bulb clear.
Refit is the reverse- dont touch the H4 bulb though.
Just found it easier and quicker doing it this way.
