Temp sensors

In my not so frantic search as to why my ACSD on my surf is not working i found that i seem to have two temperature sensors. One goes to the fuel injuection pump. Is there any way to test these to see if they are working, cause that could be my problem?

Del, this pdf covers Toyota temp sensors in general, may be for a petrol motor but sensors may be the same, worth a read anyway.
