Ok ,I just pluged mine(Egr) ,& i noticed a big improvement in performance & responce.I dont need as much throttle & pick up to city speeds is alot smoother.
I just used one of those little screws that come with DIY house plugs or light switch's.Perfect fit.

Maddog, glad to hear you got a good result with the EGR.
I quickly tried mine again although the engine is still mis-firing.
Yes it did make a marked difference pretty much as you described, but I've
returned it back to standard for the time being.

Marky, yep, Steve called me today. I was one digit out on his phone number
which pretty much explains why I couldn't get hold of him.
Anyway, gonna see him on Wednesday, when hopefully he'll tell me I've got a minor top end problem!

I'll let you know what happens and thanks for getting us in contact.....much appreciated.

                .
Have you fidled with you intake latley,You may have a bad seal, causing an Air leak. This can cause misfire.Mine was leaking a little with the stock system ,since then ive put a custom intake on & it isnt missing anymore.

On reading the fault codes I get fault 14 and 52 showing.

I was told that fault 14 refers to lack of signal from the igniter to the ecu.
Is the igniter the coil, amplifier, both or something else?

Fault 52 refers to the knock sensor, how easy is it to change one of these?

I'm thinking of getting my engine replaced or rebuilt. Can anyone recommend anyone/anywhere who can source a replacement engine and/or rebuild mine?

Does the EGR mod work with V6 petrols?

                  Thanks in advance...
Are you by any chance running LPG

Yep, have checked for airleaks but can't find any.
So far, I'd say faulty knock sensor is high on the list, got one ordered just hope it turns up soon.

Still have the problem of low compression on cylinder 1.
Hopefully Stevo will diagnose on Wednesday.

Yes she does run gas, but I disconnected it until problem solved.

                      4Runner/Surf

Hi Lee, why not squirt some oil down number 1 cylinder and do a compression test and see if it come,s up. lf it does then l would say it is rings lf it does not make any difference then l would say a valve is suspect.

Hi Bob, I tried firing a load of Redex into the cylinder and turning it over by hand (just in case excessive carbon build up stopped a valve from seating). Unfortunately, I just haven't had time to check the compression yet to see if it's made any diff.
Yes, your suggestion seems a good idea but I probably won't have time to try it before seeing Stevo on Wednesday. I imagine that's exactly what Stevo will try as well. My new knock sensor has arrived at the dealer too and I've not had time to pick it up yet.

I've got a friend interested in your V6 although he'd preff a diesel, but I'll keep you informed on that.

                        Thanks, Lee
