  • v6 Under Water

    Had my v6 4-runner upto the doors the other day,
    little worried about exhast was nowere near air intake, but would the car cary on safely underwater aslong as the airtake is out the water?


    IVE HAD IT 3 DAYS
    3.0L V6 Manual 4-Runner

    providing the electrics are safeguarded, but where about on the doors?
    Did I mention I have a BLUE one

      lol, good going.

      As long at it keeps running there is no issue with exhaust being under water, and it shouldn't stall just with the exhaust being underwater.

      Water getting sucked in intake or drowning electrics are only issues to watch.

          There isn't much you can easily do, good door seals will stop the insides getting wet, the ECU is in the passenger footwell, anything outside the cabin is pretty waterproof

          Petrol motors don't like running with the plugs and dizzy underwater, that will be your main wading issues, there isn't a great deal you can do about it easily, apart from making sure the plug caps and leads are in good nick.

          Toyota wiring and plugs are pretty good waterproof wise, and you don't often have any issues in the wet and mud, thats what they are built for, just petrol motors arn't as resistant damp as diesels, because of all the ignition stuff.
