    4-Runner V6 Knocking

    baught a 4-runner v6 today
    really really happy with it, but after a few hours noticed a light knocking noise from the engine, i know the v6's are renowned for light knocking but just wanted double check this wasent a seriouse issue thanks!

    Mine never knocked. It's hardly the smoothest V6 in the world, but I don't remember any noise that I would call 'knocking'. Is it a kind of tappety sound from the top of the engine? I saw one that did that when I was looking for mine.

      yeah a tappety sound, when i baught it dident seem like a big deal, it runs fine.
      on wiki they say all V6's have a tendancy for light knocking because of the angles of the pistons,

        When was it last serviced? Putting some new, fairly thick oil in it should make it a bit quieter.
