I went from £50 to £30 a week in my V8'ed Toyota pickup, thats over 2 grand saved in a year. Would pay for your kit in two years, I paid £150 for a used open loop set up, so was saving money after 6 weeks!!!!

I'd second that - my mate has a Landcruiser and he does about 3000 mile a month (that's reping for you) so fitting a 2 grand kit to his wasn't a problem, his is an older LC but his fuel saving is astronomical in relation to the amount of miles he is doing
    NO WORRIES!

Sticking to original thread on economy we have just gone from Leighton Buzzard to Fishguard, then from Rosslare to Clonmel, down to Dungarvan and back to Clonmel on a tank which we were quite pleased with. It also meant we could fill up with nice cheap diesel on the other side........Me him the dog, crate, two heavy cases, loads of dog stuff etc not bad going really!

          Fuel consumption

I'm the same as Rusty, have a V6 with the gas conversion. My truck does 150 miles from a 50ltr tank of gas (3 miles/litre). I guess the amount of petrol it would use would be around the same, if it were to run on that. So I reckon I'm getting about 13-14 miles per gallon, which Rusty rightly says equates to around 40mpg on a cost basis.
          Hope that helps
          Dave.

          @Rusty
I was hoping to post pics of my truck showing the conversion as we previously discussed, but have had all kinds of PC trouble (windows xp) and then head gaskets on my motor, so haven't yet got round to it, hopefully will one of these days. Hope you are keeping well.

            Milage

Hi before the recent "HIKE" at the pumps l was getting 60 miles to £10 which was giving me around 20 to 22 to the gallon, l reckon now l am down to about 20 MPG which l dont think is bad for a big 3litre V6 4x4 with a 135,000 miles on the clock.

I have a LPG injection system fitted onto the V6 which gives me a darn sight more for a third of the cost.
Fuel is approx 80 pence per litre
LPG is 28.9 pence per litre
I still get the same miles to a gallon but at a third of the running costs
EG. around town I get about 12 miles per gallon (crap I know but I've got a heavy foot and the engine has been "de-catted" & tweeked)
on a run I get 17 miles per gallon and at LPG prices that means pound for pound I get about 44 miles per gallon (plus I carry 87 litres of LPG - I can go miles!!)
BL**DY GREAT - A V6 toy for Nissan Micra economy!!!

              Hi Rusty,
I'm thinking of getting a V6 and doing a conversion to Lpg. Have you got any tips type of conversion, tank etc anything will do as I am a novice at this and could do with a bit of help.
              Phillipe.

                Hi M8
My advice is to get a big tank fitted. My tank is only gives me a range of about 160 miles. It would be 'nice to have' 300 miles, so I'm gonna enquire about having an extra one fitted, or a bigger one to replace the one that's there.

                  Gas Conversion

The govenment I think, only consider giving you the grant for the LPG conversion if the vehicle is 3 years old or younger...

I think the good systems these days are about £1,500 fully fitted etc...

Has to be done if you have the cash. As I dont ever see petrol in this country getting cheaper ;-(
