Probably. The V6 is well known for doing its head gaskets in a certain mileage band. Can't remember what it is off hand.

Plus the MPG figures are shocking. So be aware of that. Plus 4runners rust a lot more then surfs..

If it hasn't had the head gaskets replaced yet, and it's still on the original Dual mass flywheel then I wouldn't bid more than 1800.

p.s. It's de-chromed just like mine, so that alone makes it a cool truck.

i think i may be correct in saying the head gaskets let go around the 70-75 thousand mark.if they havnt had the correct material gaskets fitted from new or have been changed recently

They're always cheap. Mostly because they get through fuel at a fair old rate (20mpg on a good day).

I think, but am not entirely sure, that the UK 4runner doesn't have the same flywheel problems as the surf.

The HGs do go on the runners, but it should have been recalled by Toyota already. I would ask to see a receipt or check the VIN and call Toyota.

Edit: Thought of some more. I am 99% sure it's a solid flywheel on the 4runner. Also the manual is nothing like as bad on fuel as the auto and is quite a lively performer for something so big.

I would personally go and have a look at least.
