What is the best brand and weight to buy for my 4x4?

Any old 10w40 semi synth

think this has been asked before but if doing regular changes ie 4-5000 miles will normal mineral oil suffice or is there a distinct advantage with semi synth

decent morrisons mineral oil from our local factors is about half the price of their semi synth version?

Most use semi synth. Those that use mineral report no problems. Up to you I suppose.

Thanks guys, but you've lost me completely...

I know nothing about synth or semi-synth or mineral based oil.

Basically I need a recommendation to which brand of oil to use and what weight that will be best for my truck.

Brand - As I said, 'any old'. Whatever's cheapest.

'Weight' - As I said, 10W40. Put 15W40 in if it's getting a bit rattly.
