    HELP
I have just got my 4 Runner back after 2 and half years of engine re-build, So yesterday I set to and took out front seats to give the inside a really good clean and hoover. Put everything back and now the Bl**dy thing won't start. I have an inkerling that it might jhave something to do wit the imobiliser. It is a standard Toyota one which activates the central locking, Found a Black box under drivers seat. I guess this has something to do with it. Alarm had not been working for past 2+ years so I might have triggered something when i replaced the alarm battery in the fob. Any ideas how I can deactivate imobiliser. Dash lights come on but and fuel pump activates and can feel a click in Alternator Relay.
    Any thoughts anyone.

I dont think that box is your IMMOBILISER.

I would say immobiliser is not what's causing it if you get all your dash lights (inc glowplug?) and the fuel pump comes on.

Is there anything at all when you turn the key?

just a click from the alternator you say,
Have you replaced the starter motor contacts?
Thats what the problem will be I am sure, its happened to me, try to start the car a few times I found that after 10 times mine would sometimes start, the other thing is to try to push start it,
if either of those work then its your contacts, there are loads of threads on how to replace them and the part no. you need.
good luck and i hope thats your problem, 10 quid and you should be off driving again.

you still might want to replace/clean the copper contacts in the starter motor, its a common problem, well documented:
                  check out:
                  http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/sh...arter+contacts

                  or:

If you need to get your starter motor out I recormend buying (if you dont have) 2ft of extension bars for your socket set made life soo easy to remove all the bolts without cutting my hands and arms!

It's a bit late now but for future reference sometimes all it takes is to hit the starter motor; it could just be a sticking solenoid. I used to have to hit the starter motor on my old Marina with one of the original "Krooklocks".
