  • Power and Auto Gearbox.

    Hello all,

Can I ask if anyone notices that for a 3ltr V6 petrol, the surfs do seem very sluggish.
Also, now been driving the vechicle for a few days, I have found that the gearbox is always changing damn gear at the wrong times..

Sometimes it just feels like the vechicle up hills is standing still.

Any ideas on things to check/replace to increase potency and better gear selection?

Only had a manual V6, plenty of pep IMHO. Do you have a ECT button on yours? Try it in power mode.

Maybe the motor needs work, EGR gets blocked, general service, etc.

Other thing worth considering is getting the gearbox serviced. Had mine done at a specialists recently - oil flush and refill, filter clean, check and reset box operation all for around £100. Money wel spent I think

Yeah got the ECT button in power mode.. Oh by the way, what does the A/D button do on the steering wheel?

Where did you get the gearbox service? Just a normal garage or done yourself? May try myself once I get my garage ;-)

          Accelerate/Decelerate - it's cruise control.

          Cheers

            Hi guys..

Wanting to plan a service on the vehicle now. Willdo the normal stuff, plus AT oil change and filter..

Tony, what did you mean by the "ERG gets blocked"?

Need it serviced to see if it improved the performance, as at the moment, it goes like a 1.1 ;-)

Seems to run well on the flat or downhill ;-0 But up hills it really does struggle and loose speed. Changes up a gear so lots more revs, but rev counter and speedo stay put, if anything, loose speed.

I hope this service does help with this problem.

So anyone got a check list of tasks that they usally require done in a good service?

            Thanks..

              Thanks..
Should have typed EGR! its a little valve that allows a small amount of exhaust gas into the combustion chamber under heavy throttle. It lowers the combustion temps to reduce NoX emissions, It could be blocked with soot, jamming it open or closed.
