i have attached how to test the lamba sensor using the multimeter
danny as i haven't got a clue what im doing i thought id post my findings

i connected the multi meter like so http://s1305.photobucket.com/user/gu...c.jpg.html?o=0

yeah both seem OK but they go from very lean 0.07 to normal 0.45 then very rich 0.78 then back again to lean something is slightly a miss there as they should be 0.25-0.65 running slight lean and rich. could be the senors on their way out could be how the ECU is set up not sure will have a look in FSM.

just had a look at the FSM and the attached in this thread and it says that as long as it goes over 0.5 once every few seconds then that is fine. 0.07 is a bit lean but i think the lambda sensors are working OK.

a fool proof way of seeing if it is running really rich or lean is looking at the end of the exhaust. if it is very black and sooty then it is rich if it is white then lean but that would be over a period of time.

ok thanks danny, i suppose thats good news, part of me wanted them to be shagged and it running rich least its an easy fix

i've recently discovered that my flashing o/d light isn't just the consquence of having an engine transplant and in fact a warning light for the transmission, i pulled code 42 from it which according to a lexus site means No1 speed sensor signal malfunction, can you confirm this in your book of wondors?

            thanks

is your speedo working OK or not? speed sensor 1 is located downstream of the transferbox. this is a surf code not a lexus engine code. but i think the wriing goes from the sensor to the head up display and then to the ECU as it needs to check if the gear it is in is right for the speed. there is a cross over of surf and lexus wiring but it is a autobox surf code.

speedo is slow by 10mph below 30mph and stretches to 20mph off at 50mph+

rev counter shows redline at 3k even though the engine is at 6800k
