  • Good price for 1uzfe?

I'm taking the plunge..I have found a bare engine in apparently good condition.

Its has only done 52k for £580 delivered, is that a good price?

It's not bad and that's low mileage.

But it's way cheaper to buy the car and strip it yourself. My 2 LS400s cost £250 each. Plus I broke the cars up and sold loads to break even.

mileage isnt really an issue with the 1uz they are built to last, theres one in america on a million miles

you can get a whole ls400 for the price of the engine and as said you make most the money back selling what you dont need

i paid £400 for what i needed of the car, and, my fault, the person who sold it to me still got it waiting for me to do a move to do something with it.

I paid £421 for an entire car, with an mot.

it was the VVTi version too.
          More Lift.
          More Tyres.
          More Engine.

i paid £300 as it was the time of the car scrapage scheme and people bough cars like this to get £2k for them but then realised they couldnt so had to sell them!

i would get the whole car as you get all the wiring and stuff with the engine plus if you drive it home you know it works!

unless you are a good mechanic and an excellent auto electrician i would go for the whole car not just the engine as you will need to start from scratch do to the wiring.

do you get an ECU with the engine? and what wiring is there or have they cut it. make sure you get the plugs to fit the ECU or that is a mission to find them.

hope not teaching to suck eggs but things to think about when buying just the engine

Thanks for the info guys, the whole car is the seems the way to go...

But i will be buggered if i can find one cheap enough, they all seem to be getting more pricey? £800??

              I dont fancy a 250k dog either

1991-1993 engine (for the fatter rods) 150K that I can port / polish rebuild, balance and boost to 350/400hp for another 100k miles

£500 quid would be my bid
