Hello everyone, I am a new user to the site, having been referred to you by a friend, Harry, who I bought my 1996 Hilux truck from last year. It has an LS400 engine fitted by your member Bushwhacker, whom I am hoping will see this message and contact me!
Unfortunately, when I bought the truck from Harry (who lives in Hayle, Cornwall) it had an idling/not reviving out issues which were subsequently fixed by Alan Jefferies, Engine Tuner in Plymouth. It turned out to be a problem with the maf air flow sensor ... luckily I managed to get a secondhand one via ebay (thank god... having been told it would be £1,000 new from Toyota, who told me that actually they couldn't source one coz it was discontinued!).
The truck came back and worked ok for a few months...but every now and then it wouldn't start, smoked really badly and finally gave up the ghost with a massive puff of smoke! I got it trailered away to a local garage who have compression tested the engine and said it is ok, although slightly down. The ECU was getting very hot though and they think it's a wiring/electrical issue. The garage say that without a wiring diagram they are finding it very difficult to diagnose the fault. I am hoping that Bushwhacker will be able to help with a wiring diagram having fitted the engine ...or be able to speak to the garage mechanic to give him some pointers!
It's all abit desperate now coz it's been in the garage for two months...and is booked in for my boys village Carnival this Saturday 25th July! Lots of their friends are all dressing up in monster costumes to ride in the back of my monster truck...I really don't want them all to be disappointed.
So, if anyone can help with any ideas, or if they are in contact with Bushwhacker, would you be so kind to refer him to this message in the hopes that he can help.
Thanks very much.
