Wierdly, the VVTi 1UZ is probably closer to a 2UZ than it is to the pre VVTi 1UZ!

The intake/cooling is also a lot easier without twin batteries!

Not interested in the 4.3, it's still a screamer engine.
The 4.7 2UZ is the way forward for Surfs.

Getting hold of the 2UZ is proving to be the biggest hurdle.
Got my feelers out for wrecked Landcruiser Amazons at the moment, as I want the running gear as well. I'll probably go for after market engine management.

Lots of flood damaged L/Cs in Japan going cheap, waiting to hear back from some exporters.

Oh, and it'll all be going into the black 3rd gen.
