Another update
Got about 5 hours on it today
Finished the t/box mount.
Started on the brakes, new disks and pads and braided flexis.
Found that two out of the 8 pistons are seized up solid!
Great more money for new ones !
Luckily I just sold a few more bits off the lexus and the oily lump so I can afford new ones :-)
More tmrw

I got another 6 hours on it again today, with Vince's comment about the steering relay bar ringing in my ears! I decided to check on how much the relay bar under the sump actually rises. I pulled out the two rubber bung things that hold the rubber mat things at either end of the steering relay bar, this allowed me to slide in a bit of 12mm stud which I could then measure to.
For some reason mine seems to be at its highest in the center when both wheels are straight, when the steering is on full lock it drops down by 8mm both ways. So I'm fairly happy that the bar will clear the sump, if not due to the mounts compressing I will add a few washers in behind the mounts to lift the engine a few mm.
So after that i finished fabbing the mounts, I got both the side ones done and painted, and got most of the t/box done, I just need to drill the holes.
I used 6mm metal with an arc welder so those bad boys ain't goin no where.
Will post a few more pics tmrw.
Any news on the loom vince?
Thanks

Any idea how much the bar raises by? The pic is a little deceiving, the gap from the sump to the bar is about 12 -15 mm
Thanks

Cheers Vince, yeah I thought it was a bit close, Ill have a play with the mounts tmrw. Yeah it does have a 2inch body lift. I don't think I can get it back any more as the cam bung will touch the h/brake assembly. Nearly there now though. Will get back on it tmrw.

The gearbox mount goes back in the same position on my conversions. (approx 40mm higher though)Originally posted by zem_41 View PostWhere the g/box mount sits viewed from below
You need to raise the engine a little more I'm affraid, that link rod will probably scrape the sump. The rod rises ever so slightly when the steering is turned lock to lock.
Engine tilt is about right though, same as mine.
Does the truck have a bodylift?
