      God Damn that's looking good!

      Are they polished or painted?

Vince, how hard is it to install vents that sit flush with the bonnet? Something like the Cossy 4x4 vents.

The tops are polished, where they look er, polished, the lower parts are sprayed with bright aluminium paint. It was near impossible to polish those parts.
Re: flush vents, I think there's a recess stamped into the bonnet to make them sit flush, I could possibly do that but I would practice on my bonnet first.

to do flush vents you'll need a joggler

best ones are used by the aircraft industry - they have 2 wheels with offsets and can be spaced for the width of the joggle in the panel. the mole grip type with offset jaws aren't worth a carrot.

            paid around £50 for mine

I've been meaning to buy a set of jogglers for the past five years, I always find myself looking at the in the Machine Mart catalog and thinking, hmm I could do with a set of those, especially for welding sheet metal together.
My only concern with using them on a shiny bonnet is cracking paint around the edge of the hole, unless the vents would hide it when fitted?

it will always crack paint - the machine mart ones wont make what you need.

i have a wheel with a stippled face for doing radius curves ( works like a shrinking hammer) so the curve doesn't stretch out of shape.

even then on really tight corners on bonnet vents youll still end up using dollys and panel hammers - bye bye paint

mine came from a retired aircraft engineer - dunno what it cost new but i gave £50 for mine and that was 15 years ago

Vince, if it's been asked before, sorry.

What is the final drive ratio on a lexus?

                  And on a 2.4 Surf?

On a private piece of road, so it was all legal like,
0-60 1st run, 6.7 seconds, second run, with 39 psi in the tyres, 6.4 seconds, so around 0.60 of 6.55seconds. This gave me 112 mph at 1/4 mile and before the road ran out 137mph. I got all ignition parts renewed and two spark amps, coupled with a (very minor) tickle in the fuelling dept.
                    Non intercooled nothing.

                      • It's got half decent all the way round now!
Next acquisition is new bfg's. Going to stay with 31's. After that...maybe sone super coil packs and thick ht leads. Will eventually get to change the distributor caps...just gotta find a house to rent first!

                            Muchos Gracias Signor.

No wonder the Lexurfs are quick off the mark.

                              • Who's going to be the first to do the Lexus final drive into a 2.4 swap?

It'll give it quicker acceleration and limit the top speed to give the cooling system a chance.
