A bit of an off-the-wall option, but does anyone make an adapter plate for the 2.8 Isuzu lump? If you're after crazy power,it's amazing what you can push them to and they last forever.

My mate has a '59 S2 LWB Landy with one in.It's geared correctly and with a sodding gert home-made intercooler (2 Frontera 2.3 coolers joined) and the pump wound up. It's heavier and less aerodynamic than my Surf. It's also faster and more economical.

Was not mocking you at all, just some 'old skool' banter.

I do know the trooper 2.8 is a strong motor though, but for reliability + power + economy, the 1UZ-FE is the best swap for a two ton 4X4 IMO, you get low to mid twenties mpg, possibly more, 240+bhp as standard, and an engine that will outlast the life of the truck.
The complete engine only weighs 200 kilos.

Fair Didn't realise they had that much go!

At the end of the day, you're never going to find 240+bhp from a 2.8 Isuzu lump. It's nice when it gives full boost at about 1600rpm though-and when I was doing 18mpg in the 2.8 Mu trying to keep up towing an identical boat, he was making 32mpg,doing nearly 1000rpm less and only came out of top once between Exeter and Redruth.

Nor was I... I was just saying why put anything other than the Lexus V8 in (especially since you can buy an entire LS400 for 450 quid!)? But then I am particularly biased, since Vince is currently doing just that... D

Doubtless there are other projects which may well work a treat.
