Lexus V8 viscous fan.....


2.4 diesel Surf viscous fan....


Note the angle of the blades.

Both engines rotate clockwise when running, but the Lexus fan blows forwards back through the radiator, the Surf's fan pulls air through the radiator (correct for cooling the coolant in the rad)!!!

Am I missing something obvious here???

The only thing I can come up with is its either been incorrectly mounted at the factory or someone's done the same when replacing the original.

It dosent make sense.

You cant push air through a rad the wrong way whilst the car is moving at any speed..???????

The fan isn't going round while the truck is going at any speed (unless the heads gone..) If the trucks not moving it doesn't matter which way you move the air, as long as you do move it.

the lexus turns anti clockwise the belt goes the other way

I dont have any of that on my soarer,i have this weird hydraulic operated fan.

Yup.
There's a small oil pump (tiny vanes) with it's own fluid reservoir.
Hiroler's Celsior V8 had one, I removed the rotor and vanes, capped off the oil lines, but left a little oil in there to keep the bearing happy, and fitted an electric fan instead.

I am more than a little confused vince...as with a GM lump,and an extra tensioner, you can get the fan to turn any way you want to?
