hehehe, I wanted the steel for covering the holes after I've remove the rear side windows in my truck. I'll be chopping the next Lexus bonnet for the other side!

The Surf's rear side windows, if you square them off, are approx 42" X 22". The centre section of the LS400 bonnet is enough for those dimensions.

I thought about using Surf bonnets but they're not flat, there's a curve in both planes to the centre section. (what is known as a Compound curve)

Is that derived from a cone, rather like compound radi in guitar fingerboards ?

I'm referring to the compound curve as formed in sheetmatal using an English wheel.

i could have rolled you 2 panels on the wheel vince if youd asked hehehehe - i guess the jap steels better though its treated and doesnt get rusty - you can have a nice silver one for the other side from my lexus - two tone windows, great idea for remembering whats left and right.

i just realised it is my lexus - i think you were just too lazy to open the bonnet to get the engine out. its amazing what can be done with a 9" grinder

hehehe!! I was wondering when you'd realise!

Hopefully in January, I'll have some 'free time' to work on my truck. I want the sheet steel for plating over the rear side windows.....

Got the wheels and paint, just need the tyres and some hours!!
