    • Shockingly good work Vince. It will almost be a shame for this thing to get muddy when it's finished. Think if I was Ross, I'd be forking out for a new rad though - that thing is battered to hell!

If I ever get mine V8'd by you, I'm giving up offroading

Ooh, that would be handy, I could chop a bigger hole in it to get the Lexus pump to fit.
A bit of R&D if you like.

I'll have to come and collect it sometime, I could bring the little guy with me, give mum a break.

        Thanks Charlie.

p.s. Just trying to think how you would you come by a fuel tank. They don't exactly fall off the truck!

The rad is sound apart from it's looks, It's definitely not the original, but it is a genuine Toyota rad.

A 3.0 rad would be better for the conversion though as it has a cap on it.

I started off with a 2.4, then broke/ sold/ threw away lots of bits, and there it was!

            • looking good silver is fine!! the rad was an ebay special after the first time i took the surf off roading it was overheating due to the mud in the rad so i took my jet wash and removed all the mud!! however it also removed all the fins!! think that rad was only £35 and its been fine for a good few years .

Seriously though it would save £30!

                    • Vince what year Lex does it have to be? ive just come accross a 1993 LS400 V8 for sale down the road from me. its done 130,000 miles. MOT was left to run out. my mate has driven it and says its a vert straight car. its black with full cream leather.
                      £600.
is this year ok? just wanted to double check as im going to have a look at it tomorrow. if a 1993 V8 is suitable ill just buy it weather i go for the conversion or not. if i dont then i can sell to another member wanting to do the conversion or get her MOT'd and just sell her on.

Yep, pretty much what he said.

p.s. 130,000 miles is just run-in for these engines.

                          • cheers for that guys.
ive also just come accross another cheap one. i offered him £350 for it and he wants me to ring him tomorrow to talk about it.
might buy both of them and use them both to fix each other up and sell a complete lexus on, whilst nicking the engine out the other one! lol

                            • Strange, the right side cylinderhead seems to have been rebuilt at some point, as it looks almost new compared to the left side, even the cams look barely run in.........

                              Right side..

                              Left side..

The inlet tubes, ditto on the plenum are also abnormally clean too, mine were full of carbon deposits and totally black..

                              .

Anyhoo, all parts removed ready for the blinging treatment.

Going back into the garage now 'til about 10pm.......

                              Later.
