  • miss-fire on 3.0 TD engine @ 2000 RPM ????

Just bought myself a 3.0 TD Runner, starts, runs & drives great but...........whn the truck is under load at 2000 RPM a miss-fire appears.

The truck will only do 75 MPH down a hill with the wind up it's arse !

It drived OK at 55/60 MPH, but when you put your foot down @ 60 the miss-fire starts & struggles to accelerate.

When running ther truck does not throw any smoke out, coolant temp reading normal, the turbo whistles on low revs & the truck pulls well until you reach the 2000 RPM mark...

HELP - can anyone let me have their ides & comments on what the cause of the problem is.

Have you serviced it? Give it a new fuel and air filter and some injector cleaner and try again.

    Check the exhaust isn't plugged.

Then try pulling the Diagnostic codes (been covered well here, do a search) and see is anything is stuck/broken

Have had this happen over last week, well scary. I have changed the fuel filter and the problem seemed to have gone, until I stuck it on the slip lane to the motorway and booted it. The engine felt like it stopped for a moment, then the Check Engine light came on.

Let me know how it went with yours, please.

If you got it from a dealer let them sort it out! If you bought it private we have a good engine mechanic in Stockport who knows the surf well, Let us know how you get on.

Cleaned the fuell lines, fitted new fuel filter & run it on ultimate diesel (90odd pence a litre stuff) with injector cleaner in it -- goes like stink now, infact this thing will easily broadside round round-a-bouts !

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply
