KZN185 interference engine or not ?

Hi guys just bought my first surf 3.0 kzn 185 ,quite impressed so far with how solid its underneath need to do a few jobs (front shock gone ) rack bushes ,tyres , (transfer seals and speed sensor , aux belts have been done , so prob timing belt but no history , was going to run it for 6 months to see how i like driving it , so priority will be shocks and safety . Is surf an interference engine if the belt went ? will only be used local in that time mainly trailer pulling

No idea if its interference or not, but why take the chance, changing the belt on the kzn185 is a doddle.

Yes it is and will go off with a big bang if the timing belt breaks.

BTW if you do the belt then consider water pump (and possibly the housing as well because they can corrode) crank and cam seals and whatever else is usually recommended.

i wouldn't risk not changing the timing belt! they are easy to do and don't cost much.
