Hello again, My 1996 KZN 185 has developed a problem. Initially under acceleration a squeal under the bonnet was found to be a loose belt. Tightened, solved. After a day or so 3 lights appeared, the battery, water in fuel filter and timing belt. Simple, I thought, alternator on the way out, ordered new one from Milners, and replaced. Only to find that these lights have not disappeared. Has anybody else had this problem or any idea about solving this. All fuses have been checked and all are intact. Not being that clever with electrical problems, the new alternator is outputting 14.5, which I believe is correct. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Could all just be a coincidence, the battery light would signify that it's not charging, possible fault with the battery itself. Have it tested
Water in the fuel filter may well be just that, there's a wing nut type valve under the filter, open it and drain the contents. You'll need to refill the filter with fuel before starting the engine again.
The timing belt light will be because it's time to change the timing belt.

I support DW on this. Every time I change a fuel filter, I fill the filter housing with ATF (and have done so for the past 14 years), then I start the engine and drive the car at a good gallop, giving it a nice workout - does wonders for restoring power.

Still have warning lights
Thanks for the suggestions, however all possibilities have been checked to no avail. Batteries and Alternator checked out fine. Fuel filter had no water in and Timing light screw re-positioned. Any electricians out there who could assist in where to look for a possible short. Thank you.
