Glow plug light

Why haven't I got a glow plug light in my dash?
Gen 3, 3.0 TD auto, 1997.

How am I supposed to know if it's ready to start?

put yer fans on auto
turn ign on
when fans speed up
turn key to start
once fans speed up yer plugs are go

the glow light only comes on for a very short amount of time. i think its about 1 sec until temps are below ~3c, then it stays on for longer depend on temp.

The glow plug light comes on briefly when you turn the ignition, listen carefully though and after 7-8 seconds or so you will hear a relay click, that is the glow plugs deactivating and its time to turn the engine over for a start.
